We here in the Bouc household are HUGE fans of Netflix. I just have to rave for a minute about how amazing it is. We have the 2 DVD unlimited membership. What that means is that for the low, low price of $13.99 a month (which was $14.99 a month, but the price went DOWN after we joined- when does THAT ever happen?!) we get 2 DVDs at a time, unlimited numbers of DVDs per month- as soon as we mail one back, they mail another out. Turn around is like 2 days, which is crazy fast.
The real benefit of this service, though, is the unlimited online viewing! OMG- this is such a life saver. We're TERRIBLE about mailing the DVDs back. Actually, our DVD player died about 3 months ago, so we watch the DVDs on the computer, so really there's not much benefit to a DVD over the online viewing. So, since we generally sit on the same DVDs for a month or more (sorry to anyone waiting for ones we have, though Netflix has THOUSANDS of copies of the popular movies), we can still watch something other than what we have at home, whenever we want! We just go to the instant viewing section of the web site, and enter in what genre of movie we'd like to watch. They even have fairly new releases available for instant viewing. Being parents, this is AWESOME for those rainy days or the days that mom needs to get stuff done- I can plop the kids in front of a laptop and bring up litterally THOUSANDS of movies for them to choose from.
Netflix is so awesome, we don't even need cable (not that I'd pay $60 a month for it, anyhow). We may have to wait a year or so to catch something we're hearing about (like The Tudors- the awesome Showtime series with the amazing sets and costumes? Season 1 and 2 are available for instant viewing. Or Weeds? Seasons 1-3 are on the site) that's playing on TV. Movies are on much faster- Stepbrothers (the hillarious Will Farrel movie) is already on there.
So, that's my recommendation for the day. Netflix. It rocks.
